Pfizer hires Linda Dyson, expands global nutrition comms role

MADISON, NJ: Pfizer hired Linda Dyson as director of global commercial communications for Pfizer Nutrition, effective in March.

MADISON, NJ: Pfizer hired Linda Dyson as director of global commercial communications for Pfizer Nutrition, effective in March.

She succeeds Gill Markham, who had previously been based in the UK and handled PR for the category in European and the Middle Eastern markets. Markham has moved internally to become senior director of international public affairs and policy for Pfizer Consumer Healthcare.

In what has become an expanded role, Dyson works on PR for a number of regions that develop products within the category, including Africa, the Middle East, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia. One product example is Gold, an infant formula that the company is beginning to launch in various international markets. In addition to PR, she'll support as-needed social media interactions, which exist in various languages and countries, said Rick Goulart, director of media relations at Pfizer.

Though Dyson and the nutrition group are based in Madison, NJ, its products aren't available in the US, and the company has no current intention to expand them to the US market.

Dyson, who has been consulting for about a year, told PRWeek that in April 2010 she left her EVP role at Cohn & Wolfe on good terms, for personal reasons.

Prior to joining the firm in September 2009, to lead its global healthcare practice, she was director of public affairs for Roche.

“We hire and did hire the best talent matched to the unique responsibilities we identified within the company,” said Goulart. “Linda had the attractive experience, skills, and qualities that we really desired for this role.”
