SparkPR alumnae form own agency

SAN FRANCISCO: Candace Locklear and Rebecca Fuller, formerly of SparkPR, have partnered to open their own hi-tech firm, Mighty PR, which focuses on social, mobile and cloud technologies.

“We've been surrounded by entrepreneurs for most of our careers, and we got the fever,” says Locklear, who was a managing director at SparkPR, where Fuller was a senior managing director.

“We are so deeply networked, so we have the confidence to go out on our own. And it's easy to start your own agency, no overhead.”

Locklear says the pair's departure from SparkPR was amicable and that they had permission to take two of the other agency's clients—GetJar, an open app store; and TinySpec, a gaming company run by Stewart Butterfield, a founder of Flickr.

She adds that Mighty PR will be a two-person shop based in San Francisco, and will rely on consultants for extra help. Next year, she says, the company will add staff.
