NEW YORK: Squeaky Wheel Media, a digital minority-owned company, has issued an RFP for its web property I HAD CANCER, a cancer support site. The deadline is April 27.
Squeaky Wheel marketing director Jacob Ramos says that once the company receives proposals, it will winnow the pool down to three to five agencies and then ask them to lay out their ideas, including how to handle the site's launch, expected to go live June 1.
"There was no site dealing with cancer, we felt, that created an emotional connection," says Ramos. "The site is almost like combining a social network, a Facebook-like, with [the subject of] cancer. Everyone can be a part of it. Everyone knows someone who has had cancer."
Content will include personal stories, diagnostics, and information on events, he adds.
Ramos said the fee would be a $5,000-to-$15,000 monthly retainer. Additionally, the announcement seeking proposals reads: “For your purposes assume we can manage your budget, timeline and that we're in an optimal situation (we are) so we'll be your greatest client ever.”
