OfficeMax marketing lead departs

NAPERVILLE, IL: Bob Thacker, SVP of marketing and advertising at OfficeMax, is no longer with the company, confirmed Bill Bonner, senior director of external relations.

NAPERVILLE, IL: Bob Thacker, SVP of marketing and advertising at OfficeMax, is no longer with the company, confirmed Bill Bonner, senior director of external relations.

A source familiar with the situation explained that part of the reason Thacker left was to spend more time with his family in Minneapolis, from where he had been commuting to the Chicago-based position for over five years.

PRWeek has learned that he will still do some consulting for the company. Regarding his replacement, Bonner said that the company has no current announcement.

“We appreciated his services and wish him the best going forward,” said Bonner.

Thacker reported to Ryan Vero, EVP and chief merchandising officer. His direct reports included Bonner in external relations, as well as executives within brand marketing, advertising, and in-store visual departments.

Prior to joining OfficeMax, Thacker served as president and CEO at BBDO Minneapolis, SVP of marketing at Sears, and VP of marketing at Target.

Correction: This article originally stated that Thacker reported to Julie Krueger, SVP of e-commerce. That is incorrect as he and Julie were peers, with both reporting to Vero.
