MINNEAPOLIS: Global hospitality and travel company Carlson has hired Alan Buddendeck as VP and CCO.
In a newly created role that splits responsibilities with Molly Biwer, VP of communications for Carlson Hotels Americas, Buddendeck is charged with raising the brand's global profile as well as internal and external communications, community engagement, and public affairs. Biwer will focus more on Carlson's hotel business unit.
Prior to joining Carlson, Buddendeck was based in Yokohama, Japan serving as VP of global communications for Nissan Motor Co. He resigned in January to move back to the US and will now be based in Carlson's headquarters in Minneapolis.
“The company has embarked upon an effort to build the profile of the brand around the world,” Buddendeck said. “And that is one of the things that drew me to Carlson as well as the leadership team.”
He will report to Elizabeth Bastoni, EVP of human resources, who joined the company in February from Coca-Cola.
Buddendeck said the company is looking to develop ways to further strengthen and improve the communications function of all its business units, which include Carlson Hotels, Carlson Restaurants, and Carlson Travel.
