SAN FRANCISCO: Integrated communications firm WCG hired Tim Marklein as technology practice leader. Marklein will help grow the agency's tech practice and lead the expansion of its analytics group, which provides digital and social analytics expertise for clients.
On the receiving end of numerous inquiries about its analytics offerings recently, the agency thought it would be a good idea to hire an individual to lead the group, said Jim Weiss, chairman and CEO at WCG. Weiss added that the agency hired Marklein for his communications experience both in-house and at agencies, as well as his deep knowledge and understanding of measurement, analytics, and technology.
“He's really coming in to lead and enhance our analytics practice,” Weiss said.
The agency hopes to build a best-in-class technology business practice and will likely be making additional hires.
Prior to joining WCG, Marklein led Weber Shandwick's measurement and strategy practice. Before Weber, he headed global PR for HP's enterprise business. His career trajectory involves work with multiple leading technology companies including PayPal, Hitachi, Juniper Networks, Oracle, Cisco, and Adobe.
