Edelman hires Clinton to lead Canada operations

NEW YORK: Edelman hired John Clinton as CEO of Edelman Canada, effective August 17.

NEW YORK: Edelman recently hired John Clinton as CEO of Edelman Canada. Staring August 17, Clinton will lead Edelman's Canadian operation, managing teams across Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver; servicing clients; growing business; and helping the agency develop a growth strategy for the years ahead.

Clinton replaces Heather Conway, who left the agency a few months ago. He will report to Gail Becker, Edelman's chair for Latin America and Canada.

He most recently served as SVP of digital solutions and new media at Transcontinental Media. From 1999 to 2008, he served as president and CEO of Grey Worldwide Canada. Prior to that he worked at J. Walter Thomson in a dual role as chairman for Canada and worldwide director for Kellogg's in New York.

Becker noted that Clinton was hired for his work experience, familiarity with many of Edelman Canada's clients, his proven ability to manage an agency and a client service business, and his experience in advertising.

“Considering how PR and advertising and digital have all melded and merged, hiring someone like John really puts us at the forefront of where the industry is headed,” she said.

As the agency continues to grow its Canada practice, Clinton's diverse expertise and experience will help put the agency in a strategic position, Becker added.
