CHICAGO: Hill & Knowlton has named Claire Koeneman as EVP and US practice leader for financial communications.
Based in the agency's Chicago office, Koeneman will be responsible for expanding Hill & Knowlton's focus on c-suite, board counsel, and transaction communications, as well as helping public and private companies achieve their strategic financial and business goals. She will report to Dan Bartlett, US president and CEO of Hill & Knowlton.
“I am looking forward to utilizing my 20 years of experience counseling public and private company management teams on financially related issues and to tapping into H&K's powerful and extensive resources," Koeneman said. "Our team has an incredible arsenal of talent with expertise in transactions, crisis and corporate communications, and now with more financial communications power, we will be able to service the c-suite on all of its critical issues.”
Koeneman joins from the Financial Relations Board, where she served as president. Her experience in financial communications includes 144a, IPO and secondary offerings, M&As, bankruptcies, restatements, and crisis communications. She is also a founding member of The United Way's Women's Leadership Council, and The White House Project in Chicago.
Koeneman's appointment follows the departure of Ryan Barr who has led H&K's financial communications and IR practices as SVP and director for the last several years. Barr begins June 20 as MD of boutique IR firm IGB Group in New York. The 11-year-old agency experienced significant “growth over the last three to five years and that was good to see,” Barr said. He is charged with building the firm's corporate communications practice.
