Mimecast selects Shift as AOR

BOSTON: After a competitive review, Mimecast hired Shift Communications as its North American AOR. The agency will focus on general public relations and social media outreach for the cloud-based e-mail management company, and also act as a general extension of its in-house communications team.

Shift began to service the account from its Boston office in May and has been involved in a variety of efforts including business and tech press-based media relations, social media strategy and outreach, and speaking engagement management and strategy.

In addition to being a good cultural fit, Shift was selected due to the agency's tech experience and expertise, proven skills in traditional and social media outreach, and dual presence on the East and West coasts, said Samantha Stone, VP of North American Marketing at Mimecast.

“We are extremely impressed with the team and very excited to now have them on-board,” Stone said.

Mimecast previously worked with a different agency but issued the review in an effort to find a firm with broader expertise and a more widespread footprint to better support its growing business. Stone declined to disclose the budget or terms of the account, but said she hopes the work with Shift will turn into a long-term relationship.

“We really see Shift as that strategic PR partner for us that can continue to grow and accelerate as our business does,” Stone said.

Jim Joyal, principal at Shift, added that the agency was delighted to win the account and is looking forward to providing social media and traditional public relations outreach for Mimecast.
