MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA: Coupons.com hired Gary Calega as VP of marketing in support of a continued effort to shift consumer attention toward the acceptance of digital coupons.
Reporting to CEO Steven Boal, Calega will oversee social media, SEO, SEM, sponsorships, email and publisher partnerships, online and broadcast advertising, and value-added services like coupon codes and daily deals.
The company believes Calega's experience in user acquisition will be a valuable asset as it works to move more coupons to the digital space and make them available through digital media, including websites, mobile, social media, and in-store kiosks.
“We believe it is not a matter of whether the paper-dominated industry will move digital, it's how fast we can make it happen, and Gary's expertise will play a significant role,” Boal said.
Calega started with Coupons.com on July 25. He previously served as president of Agilone, a SaaS-based marketing intelligence software company.
His other work experience includes leading business development at SendMe Mobile, and two positions at eBay: one as head of business seller acquisition and the other leading the company's consumer electronics business, which involved overseeing marketing, PR, business development, and user acquisition.
The VP of marketing role was previously held by Paul Willard.
