SAN FRANCISCO: Bay Area PR veteran Gina Aumiller Bender passed away on August 3, at the age of 41, following a battle with cancer.
Bender was an accomplished communications professional who held a number of notable in-house roles in the consumer tech space. Most recently, Bender served as director of corporate communications at Dash Navigation.
Previously, she worked as a marketing consultant at Intuit; director of corporate communications at Digeo, formerly known as Moxi Digital and Rearden Steel; director of corporate communications at E-Stamp; strategic PR program manager at Sony Electronics; and assistant manager of PR for Toshiba's American consumer products division.
Throughout Bender's tenure in the communications space, she supported the launch of a number of products, including Quickbooks, and also managed and carried out events; media relations; corporate, internal, and crisis communications; and handled new media marketing.
“She really was one of those stellar PR pros that could do it all,” said Alice Chan, principal at Bird PR. “She had the highest attention to standards and there was never something that couldn't be done. It was all possible.”
Chan noted that Bender always delivered high-quality results to her internal clients, and tasked agencies with meeting that same standard. Her hard-working nature was reflected in her ability and confidence in carrying out back-to-back media events in NY and San Francisco.
