Publicist Maria LaMagra passes away

LOS ANGELES: Maria LaMagra, a publicist who spent 11 years as VP of publicity for Universal Studios Home Entertainment (formerly MCA Home Video), passed away on August 7, following a battle with cancer.

LOS ANGELES: Maria LaMagra, a publicist who spent 11 years as VP of publicity for Universal Studios Home Entertainment (formerly MCA Home Video), passed away on August 7, following a battle with cancer.

LaMagra worked as a PR consultant for clients such as Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, and also served as secretary of the Entertainment AIDS Alliance. From 1991 to 2002, she led MCA Home Video's publicity department.

Previously, she worked as director of PR at Embassy Home Entertainment; in the consumer practice at Edelman Public Relations, supporting the Pepsi and Hunt Wesson Foods accounts; and as director and then VP of Trimark Pictures' theatrical and home video publicity department.
