NEW YORK: MWW Group will serve as global communications partner for Social Media Week's September 2011 global conference.
The agency will provide Social Media Week with strategic communications counsel and support, and work to raise and expand awareness of the event as a top-tier social media conference.
Social Media Week, owned and operated by Crowdcentric Media, was first launched in 2009 and is designed to connect people, content, and conversation surrounding emerging trends in social and mobile media. The conference is held two times per year in a variety of cities around the world.
The upcoming conference is set to take place from September 19 to 23 in Los Angeles, Chicago, Milan, Berlin, Glasgow, Vancouver, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bogota, Buenos Aires, Beirut, and Moscow. The February 2011 edition of Social Media Week attracted 30,000 attendees worldwide for over 600 events.
MWW's communications support for the event will involve traditional media relations, media tours, leadership exposure, and social media tracking and engagement.
In turn, the conference will help MWW integrate its clients into Social Media Week panels and discussions where their expertise may prove relevant.
“They are looking in general for thought leaders from the industry, and that's something we can make available to our clients,” said Jared Hendler, EVP and global director of digital and creative services at MWW.
Additionally, Michael Kempner, president and CEO of MWW group will serve as strategic advisor to the entire event, and has been appointed to the conference's global advisory board.
Thus far, the partnership is only set for the September Social Media Week, but Hendler noted that the agency intends for the deal to develop into a long-term relationship.
