SEATTLE: Hill & Knowlton has promoted Christiaan Brown to GM of Northwest operations, where he will report to Dan Bartlett, US president and CEO of the WPP agency.

Brown previously served as SVP and director of H&K's Northwest technology practice, where he worked with clients such as Hewlett-Packard, Qualcomm, eBay, Yahoo!, SanDisk, VeriSign, and Seattle Children's Hospital.

Brown is replacing Will Ludlam, who recently joined Edelman as EVP and GM of the firm's Seattle office.

In addition to heading up the Northwest team, Brown will also be responsible for expanding H&K's business throughout its corporate, technology, and public affairs practices based in the Seattle and Spokane offices.

"I want to accelerate the growth path we've been on by taking our team's experience on top global brands and bring that to bear for current and future clients, while looking to leverage deep experience in corporate communications, mobile, alternative energy, and crisis response and preparedness," said Brown.

The Northwest team is comprised of 20 people across all its practices, working with clients including Key Bank, Tree Top, Port Blakely, and SeaRiver Maritime. Currently, the team is working on the 50th anniversary of the Seattle World's Fair.

Before joining H&K in 2006, Brown worked as an account manager at Porter Novelli for six years, handling a number of technology clients. He also spent time at Copithorne & Bellows.
