CHICAGO: Allstate has hired Marci Kaminsky for the newly created role of SVP of corporate relations, in an effort to further formalize its public affairs function.
Kaminsky has joined the insurance company from Stryker, a medical technology company, where she served as VP of communications and public affairs. At Allstate, she will be responsible for reputation leadership, corporate advocacy, thought leadership, and CEO support. She will also manage public affairs, which was previously handled by the communications team overall.
Kaminsky will report to Joan Walker, EVP of corporate relations at Allstate. Walker said the insurance company has recently undergone an organizational re-alignment to build on the public affairs-focused model it put into place four years ago. That strategy, she said, emphasizes building reputation leadership with the company's key stakeholders.
“It's been the next logical step for us,” said Walker, on the overall model. “We created the strategy, and a function, and also at the same time created a counsel comprised of several senior leaders. We developed an accountability model so each senior leader in the company is accountable for building the reputation with each of the stakeholders.”
Walker will oversee the opinion leaders stakeholder group, as well as the strategy as a whole. Kaminsky will support these efforts.
Prior to Stryker, Kaminsky was VP of corporate responsibility at United Airlines. She has also worked in various communications positions at USG Corp, Harris Bank/Bank of Montreal, Nutrasweet, and Quaker Oats.
