Kathryn Beiser is Vice President, Corporate Communications, and a member of the Discover Financial Services Management Committee. In this role, Ms. Beiser is responsible for internal and external communications, executive communications, issues management, and corporate responsibility strategy, and plays an integral role in building Discover's brand and reputation with key constituents. She also serves on the company's Disclosure Committee, Operational Risk Committee, and Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board, and is Secretary of the Discover Political Action Committee.
Prior to joining Discover in January 2006, Ms. Beiser spent 20 years working at some of the world's leading public relations agencies. Most recently, she was a Managing Director of Burson-Marsteller's Corporate Practice, where she was responsible for agency business development and strategic planning, and also served as a senior communications counselor to a number of companies in the financial services, insurance and pharmaceutical sectors. During her nine-year tenure as Burson's Global Client Leader for one of the firm's largest accounts, Ms. Beiser advised her client through several patent challenges, a number of product launches, a global product crisis, a multi-year DOJ investigation, and testimony before the U.S. Congress, among other assignments.
Ms. Beiser also was a vice president of GolinHarris; vice president of Caduceus Communications, a public relations firm she helped establish; and an account manager at both Hill and Knowlton and Ruder-Finn.
Ms. Beiser holds a B.A. in Political Science from Northwestern University and an M.S. in Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern. She is a Trustee of the Institute for Public Relations, a member of the Arthur W. Page Society, and serves on the Board of Directors for Midwest Young Artists.
