Oracle to acquire RightNow Technologies for $1.5bn

BOZEMAN, MT: Oracle said it will acquire RightNow Technologies, a social customer-relationship management service, for $1.5 billion.

BOZEMAN, MT: Oracle said it will acquire RightNow Technologies, a social customer-relationship management service, for $1.5 billion. The deal is expected to close in late 2011 or early 2012.

RightNow, which employs more than 1,000 people worldwide, works with customers including Yahoo, the US Census Bureau, Canon, and Orbitz. RightNow hired Weber Shandwick as its AOR in March.

The company's customer service cloud offering will become part of Oracle's public cloud group, which includes services for sales, marketing, human capital, talent management, social networking, database, Java, data, and security.
