The service, “Meltwater Election Buzz,” will pull data from sources across the social Web, including Facebook, Twitter, blogs, message boards, and online video, to create word clouds of popular election topics and themes.
“We are going to feature a daily analysis that will be updated on the site of all the major conversations that are happening about the candidates and the election,” said Kimling Lam, marketing and communications director at Meltwater.
The company will update the site daily for a year, allowing users to track the changes in conversation about the election. It was designed to appeal to a range of audiences, including marketers, the media, politicians, campaign employees, and students.
“We're getting a larger data set in which we can look at trends and sentiment over time and what people are really saying on a broad basis, and looking at that analysis differently than the major news organizations might be able to do right now,” Lam said.
Meltwater also developed a weekly blog series to provide a deeper look into popular issues and elements of the election, such as primaries, debates, and current events.
