SAN FRANCISCO: Online retailer Wine.com has hired LaunchSquad as AOR following a competitive review.
The scope of work will primarily involve business- and consumer-facing media relations to raise awareness of the company and grow its customer base. LaunchSquad will also work to promote Wine.com as a resource for consumers who are learning about wine, and as a commerce-enabled mobile website.
Prior to the review, a group of independent consultants provided PR support for Wine.com.
“We realized it was time to make a change. We wanted a PR partner that had experience taking a business like ours that had a really great story to tell, and amplifying that story to get it out there,” said Amy Kennedy, CMO at Wine.com. She declined to say what other agencies competed for the account.
LaunchSquad hopes to establish national brand awareness for Wine.com.
“The goal with Wine.com, now that they've reached this kind of business success, is to really [make the brand] a household name,” said Virginia Zimpel, VP at LaunchSquad.
Kennedy added that Wine.com hopes LaunchSquad will be a long-term partner, but it has not set terms for the length of the partnership.
