SALISBURY, MD: Perdue Farms said this week that Fleishman-Hillard will no longer serve as the company's marketing PR and social media AOR as of January 2012.
Fleishman has worked as Perdue's AOR since September 2006, said Julie DeYoung, spokesperson for Perdue and former VP of corporate communications at the company. She added that the agency “may do marketing PR work on a project basis if needed.”
“Our marketing PR primarily focuses on new products, and we feel we can handle that in-house,” DeYoung explained. “We have no plans to hire another PR AOR.”
An internal team of three communications professionals, as well as Perdue's marketing services unit, will handle marketing PR for the company, added DeYoung. Levick Strategic Communications, Perdue's issues agency, will continue to handle corporate PR.“We have a very good relationship with Perdue. We are very proud of the work we've been doing with them, and we plan on continuing to have a great relationship with them,” said Stephanie Marchesi, CMO of Fleishman-Hillard.
“This is just the evolution in their company and what their needs are,” she added, “and we are there to support them in any way they need in the future.”
Over the summer, Fleishman participated in the review for lead creative and social media agency for Perdue. VIA Agency was selected for that role, with responsibility for managing strategic communications and coordinating plans with the company's other agencies, in addition to handling creative efforts and social media.
In September, Fleishman rolled out an integrated marketing campaign for global consulting firm AlixPartners featuring paid print and digital ads, as well as social media and traditional PR efforts.
