It is becoming a holiday giving tradition at Cone Communications to support The Home for Little Wanderers and its annual Big Wishes for Little Wanderers Gift Drive. For the third year, Cone has rallied its staff to adopt a family during the holiday season, and this year, we're striving to support more families than ever before. From a single mom trying to secure full-time employment and benefits to support her family, to a couple raising young children while caring for an infant with severe medical needs, our hope is to give a few Boston families facing severe hardships the holiday most of us take for granted. This drive benefits not just the children, but the whole family, each of whom can make requests for personal and household items, from a simple pair of socks to something more special.
For each family completed, Cone Communications is upping the “ho-ho-ho factor” by donating an additional gift card. It's a small incentive to encourage the agency's staff to support the cause, but there's hardly a shortage of motivation among this cause-minded group. Just three days after the drive launched, Cone staffers had already completed the nearly 50 wishes for the first, six-member family and were well onto family No. 2. Cone's staff is always eager to support this Boston institution (the Home is the oldest agency of its kind in the nation and works to ensure the healthy behavioral, emotional, social and educational development and physical wellbeing of children and families living in at-risk circumstances). In addition to the gift drive, Cone's staff can opt to participate in several local holiday-related volunteer opportunities to support another seasonal effort called Christmas in the City.
Cone Communications supports many causes throughout the year, but during the holiday season, tradition, children and families reign, which is why we are delighted to once again unite behind The Home for Little Wanderers. We expect it will be an agency tradition that lasts for many years to come.
