MIAMI: Florida's Department of Transportation has issued two RFPs seeking communications firms for major construction projects. The solicitations have a combined budget of at least $570,000.
The first request seeks communications consulting services for various construction projects in Monroe County, which includes the islands of the Florida Keys. Responses are due January 5. The winning bidder will receive a three-year contract with a projected budget of $270,000, according to the RFP. The state is planning to award a contract in May after a series of public meetings.
The second contract is for public communications consulting services for a highway project in Miami-Dade County. It has a starting budget of $300,000 with an option for additional years depending on the need and availability of budget, a state purchasing officer said. Bids are due January 31 for the three-year contract, and the state expects to pick a winning agency in March.
Responsibilities for the two accounts will include PR, communications planning and implementation, community involvement, project website maintenance, and preparation of related media communications, according to the RFP.
