The Burson-Marsteller Chicago office began a pro-bono relationship with Starlight Children's Foundation Midwest earlier this year. Starlight helps seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear, and isolation through entertainment, education, and family activities.
This holiday season the team is supporting the Starlight Children's Foundation Holiday Program, which sends stuffed bears to children who spend the holiday season in the hospital. To promote the program, the team secured a feature story with NBC Chicago during a Sunday morning broadcast. Additionally, Burson-Marsteller set up a table in the Chicago office building and Burson-Marsteller employees volunteered, promoted, and sold bears on behalf of Starlight. The agency also plans to secure media coverage for Starlight moving forward as members from the NFL's Chicago Bears deliver holiday bears to a local hospital.
The agency has also supported Starlight through a number of communications and public relations efforts this year, including development of marketing and communications materials, development and design of an annual report, and templates for organization communications, promotion of events and fundraising efforts, media coverage of a Starlight family, announcements of new members to the board of directors, social media training, media outreach surrounding holiday programming efforts, and PR support of hospital and corporate partnerships. The Burson-Marsteller team provided support for The Starlight Children's Foundation Midwest's 25th anniversary gala this summer.
