SEATTLE: Hill+Knowlton Strategies has appointed Geri Ann Baptista to the newly created position of VP of its Northwest operations. She will work across the agency's corporate and technology practices.
Baptista, who began working in the role December 12, is collaborating with H+K's teams in both Seattle and Spokane, WA. She is responsible for providing counsel to clients in the technology, banking and finance, healthcare, and aerospace industries.
Baptista said that as the technology sector grows and matures, corporate communications support has become increasingly critical.
“There's a stronger tie to the corporate communications aspect of those technology organizations,” she said. “It's not just about the technology itself, it's how the technology business conducts itself and represents itself among even more traditional industries.”
Baptista reports to Christiaan Brown, GM of H+K Northwest.
Most recently, Baptista served as senior manager of corporate communications at Starbucks, where she oversaw CSR positioning. She has also worked in in-house communications roles at Washington Mutual Bank and Premera Blue Cross, and agency positions at Waggener Edstrom Worldwide and Text 100.
Last week, H+K hired Jody Venturoni, former Weber Shandwick Southwest president, as EVP. She will start with the firm on January 3, 2012.
The hires follow H+K's rebrand from Hill & Knowlton earlier this month.
