ST. LOUIS: The World Travel & Tourism Council has retained Fleishman-Hillard International for marketing its 2006 global summit.
The WTTC is a trade organization comprising presidents and CEOs of over 100 travel and tourism companies and brands.
The group has representation across all areas of travel and tourism, including airlines, hotels and resorts, cruise lines, cars and limousines, and entertainment venues, as well as across individual consumer brands.
Fleishman-Hillard's Washington, DC office will provide strategic counsel, sponsorship development, media outreach, and government relations for the WTTC's annual gathering, which is set for April 10-12, 2006.
The group expects the summit, at the Washington Convention Center, to draw nearly 1,000 executives and ministry-level representatives from foreign governments, as well as senior US government officials and 165 members of international media.
Sponsors include Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, InterContintental Hotels Group PLC, Deloitte, Bertelsmann, and Fleishman-Hillard International Communications. Media sponsors include The Wall Street Journal, BBC World, and Newsweek International.
"Last year, the global travel and tourism industry employed more than 200 million people and generated 10 percent of the world's GDP. No other industry matches that global economic impact," said Fleishman-Hillard Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Graham, in a release.
