WASHINGTON, DC: The Council on Foundations has selected Roy Clason, Jr. as its new VP of strategic communications.
Clason will lead marketing, media relations and publications initiatives to improve public understanding and support of organized philanthropy. Pembroke will work directly with the President and CEO in the direct day-to-day internal operations for the Council's programs and activities.
Most recently, Clason was VP corporate PR at Aetna. He has also been VP of corporate communications at American Red Cross, under Elizabeth Dole.
Mary Dwyer Pembroke, a long-time legislative and government relations expert, is the council's new chief of staff. Pembroke previously developed philanthropic partnerships for the Special Olympics.
