NEW YORK: Reuters had hired Dan Klores Communications to help the international news organization continue to increase its profile in North America.
“I think we have great assets that have been underexposed,” said Samantha Topping, VP and head of media relations for Reuters Americas. She added that one of the reasons Reuters chose to work with DKC because of their experience with media clients. “They have a great understanding of our goals.”
Topping noted that while a majority of DKC’s work for Reuters would be events-driven PR, the agency will also help in promoting Reuters’ editorial and industry experts.
“Part of increasing awareness of Reuters is increasing awareness of the company’s executives,” said Matthew Traub, MD and chief of staff at DKC, adding that the agency has already set up meetings between Reuters executives and key reporters and editors. “The message point is…about the quality of journalism that Reuters produces and their leadership in international reporting.”
The agency recently helped Reuters to promote its tribute to journalists killed while covering the conflict in Iraq.
“It’s important for people to understand what goes into the gathering of the news they read every morning,” he said.
