London: WPP Group has acquired a reported 25% stake in Internet marketing firm Visible Technologies in order to boost the online media capabilities of its various PR agencies.
Visible's TruView software is a search engine optimization (SEO) product that lets customers place more "positive" information at the top of search engine results. Another product, TruCast, lets users track and respond to consumer-generated online content.
The investment value was undisclosed, though the deal also reportedly includes an option to buy an additional 26% of Visible.
"We will be introduced, where appropriate, to some WPP agencies so they can better understand how to apply the technologies in serving client relationships," said Visible CEO Adam Selig.
WPP last month also entered into a partnership with Los Gatos, CA-based LiveWorld, a provider of online community and social networking services.
