NEW YORK: Bratskeir & Company has hired Mark Malinowski, partner and director of brand marketing at Ketchum, as chief creative office and MD as the firm considers a major push towards attracting big-name clients.

At Ketchum, Malinowski, who cofounded its entertainment division nearly six years ago, did client work for Kodak, J&J, Absolut, Frito-Lay, Dyson, Cadbury, and the Geek Squad. Before joining Ketchum, he worked at Levi Strauss, where he oversaw TV, film, and music sponsorships.

Bratskeir found Malinowski through search consultant Troyanos Group after an eight-month selection process. The firm wanted someone in consumer PR that operated "in that nexus among promotion, PR, sports marketing, and entertainment marketing."

"We want it to be so it's not an accident when we find ourselves on the list for a major brand," said CEO Stan Bratskeir. "Our batting average has been tremendous, we just want to get up to bat more. Mark can help us."

He added, "There's a comfort that large clients have with their counterparts at agencies who have experience with big brands."

In additional news, Mike Rosen, EVP, will be promoted to the role of MD and COO.

Malinowski, Rosen, and Allyn Seidman, president of Bratskeir & Seidman, will comprise the leadership team. The trio will report to CEO Bratskeir, who described the hiring and promotion as part of a succession plan.

"Mike and Mark will be the ones who run this business in the years ahead," he said.

MDC Partners, a marketing network that includes Crispin Porter & Bogusky, Cliff Freeman, Kirshenbaum Bond, and Margeotes Fertitta Powell, purchased Bratskeir & Company in 2000.
