Day one of ICCO kicked off this morning with a speech from current president John Saunders, a European executive for Fleishman-Hillard. He dubbed the upcoming conference "the most illustrious group of speakers.. in the history of corporate communications."

Plenty of those back in the US at the moment might take issue with that.

Saunders also announced that Lou Capozzi, the voluble head of Publicis' PR operations, has been elected the new president of ICCO, and will take over in six months.

Saunders' speech was followed by a video from the India Brand Equity Foundation, a conference sponsor. The video proved that India is quite capable of making nonsensical slick wordless video productions, just like a US ad agency.

I believe the message was, "India: We Exist."
