MINNEAPOLIS: Best Buy is searching for an agency to head up work for its Best Buy For Business division, a b-to-b venture that the electronics retailer has been rolling out over the past year.
"What we're looking for is a good agency that knows how to communicate to small businesses," Jeff Dudash, PR manager at Best Buy, told PRWeek. "We want an agency that has good experience in b-to-b work and good tech experience, all the brand attributes of Best Buy."
Dudash said the b-to-b division will target small businesses with its "technology solutions... and we're looking for an agency to help us communicate Best Buy For Business' ability to deliver simple and affordable technology solutions to small businesses."
Dudash said the company issued the RFP a few weeks ago.
"We received the responses to our RFP, and it's now closed," Dudash said. "And we identified three agencies [last week] that we'll ask to come in and present."
Dudash said Best Buy will make a decision very quickly after the presentations are made. He would not identify the agencies chosen, but said the RFP went out to midsize and large agencies.
Dudash did not call this an AOR search, but said the firm it eventually chooses "will be the only agency at the moment we have working on this project."
Best Buy works with Ketchum on its Geek Squad business.
