SAN FRANCISCO: Technology company Whitley Media has launched PRX Builder, a service that allows users to create social media news releases. The company has also formed a partnership with PR Newswire, which will distribute the releases via its platform.
Shannon Whitley, president of Whitley Media, said with the recent buzz about the social media news release template, developed by Shift Communications' Todd Defren, the time was right to give PR and marketing professionals the tools to easily create one.
"I think that people really struggled with taking his template and turning it into an actual release," he said. "We're ready… to automate the process."
The PRX Builder system can automatically include Technorati tags, a Digg button, and can auto-download users' selected deli.cio.us account links and Flickr photos so that they can be seen by anyone viewing the online release.
Mark Nowlan, SVP of marketing and communications at PR Newswire, said the agreement advances the whole concept of social media for PR Newswire.
"We thought that this was a very practical… tool to customers that could give us exposure to that do-it-yourself PR marketplace," he said.
