Rubbermaid seeks AOR

ATLANTA: Newell Rubbermaid has issued an RFP looking for a corporate AOR.

Esther Lippman, senior manager of PR, said the company is looking for a global PR agency that can provide consumer outreach for the corporation and select brands.

Newell Rubbermaid has 12 to 15 key brands under its umbrella, including Sharpie, Expo, Paper Mate, Lenox, Goody, Graco, and Irwin. Lippman declined to discuss which brands would be involved in the process.

"For a company this size [with] this kind of portfolio of consumer-facing brands, it's essential that we make sure we're going out to the public in one voice," she said. "[It's about] being able to work with an agency that has resources and a large offering base."

Lippman added that the agency would need to meet the company's "growing needs in the US, as well as our global needs looking forward three to five years."

The agency needs to demonstrate understanding of Internet marketing, media relations, event planning, and pop-up stores, she said.

The RFP, issued early last month, was sent to only four agencies. First-round presentations will be made in mid-October, and Lippman said the company is looking to have an agency in place "on some scale" in 2007.
