The New York Times is putting its considerable heft behind a new e-mail newsletter, called Urbanite, that will feature dining out and nightlife options. This puts the offering up against newsletters like Thrillist (PRWeek profile, reg req'd), Daily Candy, and others, as well as blogs like Eater. But while resources are important, it is the promise of "fusing the newsletter with her distinctive voice and editorial viewpoint" (from the release) that will ultimately decide its success.
