Proving that blue-collar workers can be serviceable reporters, the news that the New York Mets awarded naming rights to its new stadium to Citigroup was not broken by reporters at any of the New York daily newspapers , but by workers at the field construction site. Unofficial Mets blog hotfoot.metsblog.com got the scoop after two sons of the aforementioned workers e-mailed the blog with the new name Citifield. Citigroup has reportedly agreed to pay about $20 million or so for the 20-year sponsorship of the stadium, which will replace currently 42 year-old Shea Stadium in 2009.
