Next week, you will be able to read a column of mine about a recent dreadful "viral" campaign. Which one? Maybe I started writing about it here last week.
Anyway, not all of my brilliant thoughts can make it into print, so I had to cut an aside about another poor campaign. And paste here. Enjoy!
This is not in the least limited to the online environment. Virgin's insipid ads for its Slice phone features children, using bleeped out swears, asserting the awesomeness of their parents. This leads the parents to fantasize about how awesome they are, which leads them to envisage wrestling pigs with a small person referee or performing rockabilly dressed like a neon Elvis. It screams "irreverent," a tact that couldn’t be squarer.
What are your thoughts?
