SC Johnson & Sons taps Edelman as its new AOR

RACINE, WI: SC Johnson & Sons has named Edelman its new global AOR, ending nearly two years of work with GolinHarris.

RACINE, WI: SC Johnson & Sons has named Edelman its new global AOR, ending nearly two years of work with GolinHarris.

"While we respect [Golin], it was clear early on that we have different communication philosophies," said Kelly Semrau, VP of global public affairs and communication. "Over time, the differences became more challenging."

Fred Cook, president and CEO of Golin said, "In the end, it just wasn't a very good fit."

SCJ approached Edelman after ending its relationship with Golin, Semrau said. Edelman was one of 10 agencies involved in a pitch for the account in 2005.

She said SCJ was impressed with Edelman's "depth, breadth, and scope of experience," as well as its consumer marketing, client service, and experience with social and new media. "They're just a full-service agency that really has great global coverage," added Semrau.

"We're thrilled at the opportunity to work with SCJ again and support such a wonderful portfolio of blue-chip brands," said Nancy Ruscheinski, president of Edelman's Midwest region.

SCJ's brands include Windex, Glade, Raid, Ziploc, and Pledge.
