Today “Miss”es the mark

The Today Show isn't usually viewed as a vehicle for hard hitting news. After all, it's a show where Katie Couric once flew around the set as Peter Pan on Halloween. But during a time when violence in the Middle East is soaring and only a few weeks after Matt Lauer made the bold declaration that NBC would classify the conflict in Iraq as a "civil war," the amount of time the show devoted to the Miss USA "scandal" this morning seemed a bit over the top.
