CHICAGO: Cushman Amberg Communications has completed the acquisition of HealthInfo Direct, a Chicago-based direct marketing group and healthcare specialist, for an undisclosed sum.
HealthInfo Direct partners Marita Gomez and Matthew Stone will now serve as VPs within the organization, with Gomez heading the healthcare PR department and Stone charged with consumer and healthcare direct marketing. There will be a transition time where the firm will keep the HealthInfo Direct name attached, after which it will drop the name and be fully absorbed under the Cushman Amberg moniker, according to Thomas Amberg, president and CEO.
"In the process of getting to know them, we discovered that this was something that could really enhance what we were doing," Amberg said. "It was a surprise for us during the year. Their backgrounds in direct marketing and in healthcare were all perfect fits with what we do."
Gomez said they began looking at potential partners six months ago both because they needed to offer their clients global services and because they needed to provide an opportunity for staff development in order to help retention. She said they were approached by three companies but that Cushman's staff development program won her over.
Cushman said that there were no client conflicts. HealthInfo Direct is currently engaging in global work for three undisclosed international pharmaceutical companies.
The deal was completed just before the end of the year.
