SCHAUMBURG, IL: Motorola announced it will cut 3,500 jobs, or 5% of its workforce, but it is unclear whether the cuts affect anyone from its communications division.

Jennifer Erickson, senior director of global PR for Motorola, said the cuts have not been broken down by department. The company is currently engaged in a search to find a new global agency, in an effort to consolidate its PR work worldwide.

The company announced the cuts after delivering disappointing fourth-quarter earnings Friday. Motorola employs approximately 70,000 people worldwide, she said.
