State Dept. public affairs deputy resigns

WASHINGTON: US State Department assistant secretary of state for educational and cultural affairs Dina Habib Powell has resigned to become Goldman Sachs MD for corporate engagement, overseeing relations with NGOs and other non-profit groups, the Washington Post reported. Powell since 2005 had been deputy to the State Department’s public affairs and public diplomacy chief, Karen Hughes, and prior to that served as White House personnel director.
