SAN DIEGO: Qualcomm has hired Hill & Knowlton as corporate AOR.
Incumbent Porter Novelli was among 13 firms involved in a selection process launched earlier this year and will continue to handle PR for Qualcomm's business units.
Both Qualcomm and H&K confirmed the news, but declined to provide details on the contract. PN declined to comment.
Qualcomm corporate PR manager Bella Alabanza told PRWeek, "The agency review wasn't related to any specific issues and was a regular course of business." Audiences it targets include investors, business press, tech trades, and financial and industry analysts.
"We build positive relationships by [giving] accurate information in a timely manner," she added via e-mail. "Examples of ongoing outreach include press releases, quarterly conference calls/webcasts, shareholder meetings, and tours."
Qualcomm technology is used in cell phones and other wireless products. Recent news coverage has focused on patent infringement and licensing disputes involving Qualcomm and competitors Ericsson, Broadcom, Nokia, and Texas Instruments; and patent and regulatory overseers like the US Patent Office, International Trade Commission, and the European Commission.
