PARIS: Global communications group Havas reported reported Q1 earnings of Euro 337 million (about $456.4 million US) up 3.2% organically from the same quarter last year.

If currency fluctuations and acquisition impacts are factored in, Havas' Q1 revenue did not change.

The Paris-based holding company, the majority of whose PR and corporate communications properties fall under the umbrellas of its Euro RSCG Worldwide and Arnold Worldwide divisions, reported North America revenues of Euro 122 (about $165 million) down from Euro 138 (about $186 million) in the first quarter of 2006.

While Havas PR agency Euro RSCG Magnet won the Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive (WPNI) account in the first quarter, Euro RSCG Worldwide lost its chairman of the Americas, John Margaritis, after he said the company was unwilling to aggressively pursue acquisitions.
