The best demonstration of why media reporting can be a big pain in the ass that I've seen for a long time: This Washington City Paper story on veteran DC knockaround national affairs reporter Murray Waas.

Short version of the City Paper's story: Murray Waas is a crazy jerk who overemphasizes his own reporting, but never more of a crazy jerk than when you are reporting a story about him. Which he is overemphasizing! You know a story was a bad experience when it prompts two accompanying sidebars, one titled "How I became a finalist for Worst People of 2006" and the other called "How I became a cancer victim hater."

The blogosphere doesn't come out looking too hot in this one either. Check it out.
