SAN DIEGO: In a move intended to blend "traditional marketing and communications strategies with cutting-edge Web and digital media technologies," longtime San Diego PR agency the Jayne Hancock Group (JHG) acquired brand communications firm Townsend earlier this month.
The newly formed agency, JHG-Townsend, will be led by president and CEO Jayne Hancock, and EVP Jackie Townsend Konstanturos.
Practice areas will be organized around client businesses, Townsend said, including media, technology, sports, higher education, and life sciences. Following the acquisition, JHG-Townsend's combined account roster included Qualcomm MediaFlo USA, Toshiba, National University, and Sponsorhouse.com.
As a unified, focused entity, JHG-Townsend should more effectively be able to "meet the needs of a whole host of publics," Townsend said -- especially as the PR world evolves into "a new digital economy."
One across-the-board emphasis for the recently merged firm will be on communicating via traditional media, as well as with blogs, viral efforts, and social networking. But Townsend added she will also rely on "a re-visitation" to video.
"Video used to be an important part of what we did," Townsend explained. "Now it's having a resurgence on the Internet, targeting a new group, to meet new needs."
