Elle may have addressed its “image issue” by transferring the title of creative director from noted Elle photographer Gilles Bensimon to Conde Nast's Joe Zee, but the magazine still has its woes.

Elle has suffered from complaints surrounding budget cuts and has lost a large percentage of the loyal editorial staff. Although doing well on newsstands, the magazine has fallen behind Vogue and In Style in ad pages.

With Bensimon's plunge to the bottom of the masthead, the magazine's September issue, which drops next week, will feature a new redesign and an interview with actress Lindsay Lohan who, days before her recent arrest, said, “I'm glad I went to rehab — I needed to get away from everyone and I didn't know how.”

While Elle has had its issues, buzz is a powerful force. I can't wait to buy the issue.
