Remember Vioxx? Thought so. Apparently you're not the only one. According to the Newark Star-Ledger folks are "clamoring for the drug's return." I'm a little taken aback by this news, but it begins to make sense when you consider the number of patients who depended on the drug and were left in the lurch following the safety controversy three years ago.
These patients argue they -- and not regulators or lawyers -- should decide whether a drug's benefits outweigh its risks, or even whether a drug poses any risks to them at all.
A touch unrealistic of course, but nonetheless interesting as an insight into the patient side of things while we continue to wade through uncertain times for the process of regulating drugs in this country.
