According to today's Los Angeles Times, Hillary Clinton is facing a backlash over aide Mark Penn's connections to Burson-Marsteller. Penn is the global CEO of the agency. Because of Burson's work "parrying union pressure" for one of its clients, labor activists are demanding that Penn either sever connections with the agency or leave the campaign. Clinton covets an endorsement from the major unions, and the longer this controversy plays out the more likely it begins to hurt her hopes of securing it, therefore potentially giving a boost to a rival.
