Santa Barbara News-Press owner Wendy McCaw (past PRWeek coverage here) is officially on trial in California, finally. The trial for a lawsuit brought against her by eight fired journalists started this week in California.

The journalists claim that McCaw illegally tried to block union organizing activities; McCaw claims employees were out of bounds in their protests against her, um, rather unique management style, which resulted in dozens of employees leaving the paper in the past year as a result of what they saw as improper management influence on the editorial content.

McCaw is now in a two-way race for "Worst Newspaper Owner of the Decade" with the people who closed the Weekly World News.
