PHILADELPHIA: Comcast Corporation is currently conducting an agency search for corporate communications support, PRWeek has learned.
The RFP, which was issued in late July, said the company is looking for an agency to provide support for "consumer media relations outreach surrounding three key projects," scheduled to kick off this fall, "as well as ongoing consumer, technology, and entertainment media relations support."
According to the RFP, those three projects include helping Comcast strengthen its "leadership position over satellite television," position it as a thought leader and authority on the digital transition of broadcast TV signals and help create a "proactive consumer campaign for the digital transition," and craft a consumer-focused campaign to promote Smartzone, Comcast's new integrated communication center.
A Comcast spokesperson said three finalists will be chosen shortly and asked to come in and present in early September, but declined to say which agencies were in contention.
The Comcast source close to the process said this is not an AOR search and that Comcast regularly works with consumer PR agencies on a project basis.
